Ivan Belousov is a media artist whose practice combines programming, 3d modeling, sound design, and engineering. He creates interactive art objects that merge industrial fabrication with handcrafted techniques, exploring the emotional interaction between technology, society, and nature.

Background

Ivan received a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering (Russia, ITMO University 2018-2023), where he mastered scientific and engineering methods, data analysis and programming. He has also been involved in music since early childhood: from academic performance and composition to electronic music, sound design and sound engineering.

These two directions, exact sciences and art, were united in the Master's degree in Art & Science (Russia, ITMO University 2023-2025), where he immersed himself in creating interactive art objects using programming, game engines, engineering design and working with various materials.

An integral part of the artist's experience is working on the water: during his academic holidays, he worked as a sailor on a schooner, sailing routes across Europe. In 2022, he received an international diploma as a navigator of a small commercial vessel, and has been working as a boat captain in St. Petersburg for four years.

The interdisciplinary path combines technical skills and artistic conceptual thinking, which helps to find unexpected connections between different fields and turn them into the basis for new projects.
